Girls travel to India will prove to be an amazing experience. But then, you should be watchful and on your guard about certain things.  The following tips will come in handy.

  • You can add to your convenience by carrying cotton wears and undergarments. Weather condition is humid, and so you will feel comfortable by wearing cotton stuffs. Even if you carry synthetic stuffs, choose those which are sweat resistant.
  • Instead of using two piece bikini or swimsuit, it is preferable to go for one piece swimsuit. Wearing three pieced cotton suit, traditionally worn by Indian women is another option to bank on. Apart from suiting the sultry Indian weather condition, these outfits will live up to the standard norms of modesty. As the saying goes, when you are in Rome, do as Romans do. Indians have unique principles of modesty, and you will be able to work things to your advantage by respecting their tradition and custom.
  • In case, you are not too willing to wear three pieced cotton Indian suit (traditionally termed as salwar kameej), you should make it a point to carry a scarf. While visiting religious places, you may be required to cover your head. So, a long lightweight scarf of cotton fabric will always come in handy.

Do remember that solo woman traveler in India is likely to be the easy targets of touts, unauthorized travel agents, gawkers, miscreants and beggars. So, it is imperative that you are in constant touch with your touring facilitator. Unwanted interventions should be immediately reported to the facilitator in charge of your touring itinerary. Staying in close connection with the consulate or high commission’s office is equally important.
